Sobon Truss Bridge

Suppose you have a train layout on tables in your basement.  You'd like to enlarge it, but don't want to put permanent tables in areas that may be walkways - you need something to bridge the gap.  That's exactly the situation my patron found himself in, so he commissioned me to build some bridges for him.  This kit is named in honour of his wife.  (Hopefully he will be able to Email me some photos to include here so you can see part of his enviable collection...)  Each truss bridge contains almost one hundred Technic beams and replaces two large grey baseplates - 96 studs - worth of table.  I recommend three track segments of incline - one plate per segment - on either side.

As with my arch bridge, I discussed it with my brother Dallas, and we developed the equidistant pattern you see below.  It is quite strong - with one bridge fully loaded and a second empty they look the same.  We could have made it even stronger but esthetics are also a consideration.  The instruction sample you see below uses different colors to improve clarity - all pieces (except the 9V track segments) are black.  Likewise, the instructions are black and white with a color title page - bound with a clear cover.

If you have any questions or to purchase this custom kit, Email me or visit my Bricklink store.

If you are interested in a longer span, another type of bridge, etc. E-mail me about a custom LEGO bridge
